Mama Washindi is a small, peaceful lodge — made for people who want to truly arrive. No noise. No show. Just a good place: clean, warm, and surrounded by green.
Behind Mama Washindi is a story that started long before the lodge:
In 2007, Tanja Dietzel-Borissowa visited Uganda for the first time. What she saw — especially the hardship faced by women and children in the North — stayed with her deeply. It was shortly after the rebel war, and the whole region was still traumatised.
To make targeted support possible for war widows, AIDS widows, and orphans, the German association “From Nobody to Somebody e.V.” was founded in 2009.
Mama Washindi is part of this path.
Our bandas are not just accommodation — they are also a way to finance long-term help: 100% of our profits flow back into From Nobody to Somebody projects, with a strong focus on education and training in Northern Uganda. Every stay supports real impact — calmly, directly, and sustainably.
